HENRIK MANSSON ARCHITECTURE
Location: Lomma, Sweden
Status: In development
Description: A project addressing the main weakness of family homes of the early 20th century: A lack of access and contact with the garden. This was done at the same time as negating site limitations and saving a much-loved apple tree. To a large extent existing spaces are extended instead adding new spaces. Literally extending the size of a space as well as extending space into the intimate space of the garden of apple trees. The design evolved through recognizing the importance of the apple tree and the image of light sifting through branches.

Making a one family home more accessible by adding an elevator. By placing the elevator in a new annex a common entrance for the whole family is created. By adding a porch easy access to the outside is allowed.

HEMARCH is an architectural practice founded by Henrik Månsson. More than 10 years of experience in Switzerland and Sweden gives the ability to create solutions carefully calibrated to each need. Previous experiences range from neatly crafted garden sheds to multistory residential buildings and a museum extension in a sensitive environment. Each previous employer and educator have had their distinct profile – adding thoughts and experiences that have amalgamated into a personal and continuously evolving understanding of architecture. The ambition is to design with care, considering all factors informing architectural design, such as sustainability, usability, and budget without losing sight something very important: Playfulness.
